GIVE YOUR BURDENS TO THE LORD

Updated: Jan 27, 2021

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matt. 11:28-30) May this scripture bring reassurance and become our revelation as we enter the NEW 2021! Whatever is troubling your mind, stealing your peace, or contributing to your fears is a burden that must be released to the Lord. In this verse, Jesus was speaking to the Jewish farmers. They understood how to plow their land by yoking either two oxen together that were equal to each other in size, or when training a younger ox, by yoking the stronger and more experienced ox to the younger ox. However, the yoke around the younger ox would fit loosely since they were much smaller in size, transferring the burden of the yoke and the work of the land onto the shoulders of the older ox, allowing the younger one to tag along without the added pressure. I want to encourage you as we step into 2021 to yoke yourself with THE ONE who is not only able to carry you and all of your burdens, but who also knows the WAY and wants to give your soul perfect rest. Our HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LOVE have been restored because of Christ: His coming, death and resurrection. May they always be a part of our lives this year as we embrace His plans and purposes for us!
